Synology Sets Thailand as ASEAN Growth Hub Expands NAS Solutions and Data Management Systems Amid Data Boom Era

Synology ชี้โลกเผชิญ "Data Boom" AI-Digital Transformation ปัจจัยดันปริมาณข้อมูลโตก้าวกระโดด

Synology highlights the onset of the Data Boom era, with global data volume expected to surpass 175 zettabytes by 2025 and grow more than tenfold over the next decade. The company identifies Southeast Asia as the world’s emerging digital hub, fueled by a projected data infrastructure investment of USD 30.47 billion by 2030. Following a 250% sales growth over the past 5 years, Synology now targets a 200% expansion of its enterprise customer base within the next five years.

Thachawan Chinchanakarn, Head of South East Asia, Synology Inc, stated that, “The world is entering the Data Boom era. By 2025, the global data volume is expected to reach 175 zettabytes — equivalent to streaming 4K movies non-stop for a billion years. Within the next decade, data volumes will rise more than tenfold, prompting organizations of all sizes to strengthen infrastructure for storage, protection, and strategic utilization of data.”

She added, “Southeast Asia is becoming one of the world’s fastest-growing digital hubs, attracting global infrastructure investments. The regional data center market is projected to grow from USD 13.71 billion in 2024 to USD 30.47 billion in 2030. Amid this growth, Thailand stands out as one of Synology’s strategic markets, with strong momentum across industries, education, and the public sector.”

Currently, Synology is recognized as one of the world’s most trusted data management platforms, with over 14 million installations worldwide, protecting 25 million organizations, and supporting over 2 million connected surveillance cameras. Synology also received a 4.7 out of 5 rating from Gartner Peer Insights and was named in the 2025 Gartner™ Voice of the Customer for Primary Storage Platforms. Operating in over 120 countries, Synology is trusted by more than half of the Fortune 500 companies.

Rahat Boontunjeen, Country Manager, Synology Inc, “Digital transformation has pushed nearly 90% of global businesses to invest in digital solutions. However, Thai organizations face budget limitations and regulatory challenges, especially under the PDPA. These factors are driving demand for secure, cost-effective, and easy-to-manage solutions — particularly in industries like finance, healthcare, and education that require strong backup and cyber recovery systems.”

According to Synology’s Southeast Asia survey, over 55% of businesses have experienced cyberattacks, yet only 22% are confident in their disaster recovery capabilities.

In Thailand, Synology offers a comprehensive Data Infrastructure Management solution that includes storage, business productivity tools, backup & protection, and hybrid on-premise/cloud surveillance (C2 Surveillance). These offerings help organizations reduce dependency on multiple service providers and streamline application management from a single platform — all while ensuring regulatory compliance and robust disaster & cyber recovery readiness.

Earlier this year, Synology introduced ActiveProtect, an enterprise backup appliance designed to protect a variety of workloads across multiple sites. It is available in models ranging from 8TB to 140TB and features immutable backups, air-gap capabilities, and regulatory compliance — making it a strong line of defense against evolving cyber threats.

The company also launched PAS7700, its first all-NVMe enterprise storage solution. With full NVMe architecture, it delivers up to 2 million IOPS and 30 GB/s throughput with latency under 1 millisecond. Its active-active architecture ensures high availability, making it ideal for mission-critical workloads. The system is equipped with robust encryption and enterprise-grade performance.

Furthermore, Synology is integrating AI into the Synology Office Suite, including features such as Optical Character Recognition (OCR), semantic search, content summarization, and real-time translation. These features run on-premise to maintain data privacy while enabling smarter, safer collaboration.

In Thailand, Synology aims to grow its enterprise customer base by 200% over the next five years following a 250% increase from 2020–2024. The company is developing tailored NAS series for specific workloads, including:

  • DP Series for data protection and backup
  • PAS Series for mission-critical applications
  • DVA Series for AI-powered video analytics

Rahat concluded, “Cyber resilience is now a cornerstone of business continuity and competitiveness. In the digital economy, data is an organization’s most valuable asset. Thai businesses are seeking secure, easy-to-manage, centralized solutions. Synology’s integrated ecosystem and strategic partnerships, such as with Toshiba, ensure we deliver end-to-end data management that empowers businesses to thrive in the Data Boom era.”
