JTEKT Corporation has reached its 60-year milestone of operations in Thailand, reinforcing the country’s strategic role as a primary manufacturing and export hub within the Asia-Pacific region. In response to global automotive shifts toward electric vehicles (EVs) and intelligent production, the company is accelerating its transformation into an integrated solution provider, driven by three core pillars: Technology, People, and Sustainability, with a target to achieve Carbon Neutrality in production by 2035.
Addressing the industry outlook, Mr. Toshiaki Shinya, Senior Executive Officer of JTEKT Corporation, stated that global industry over the next decade will be defined by electrification, automation, digital transformation, and sustainability. JTEKT is transitioning from a traditional component manufacturer to a comprehensive Solution Provider by integrating core competencies in motion control, steering, bearings, and production engineering with AI, robotics, and smart factory ecosystems. The enterprise is funneling investment into next-generation mobility technologies, including advanced steering systems, smart bearings, and digital engineering, while expanding into the energy and advanced automation sectors.
Regionally, Mr. Yoshikazu Morino, President of JTEKT Asia Pacific Co., Ltd., emphasized that the transition to EVs represents an industry-wide realignment rather than a simple powertrain shift. JTEKT is leveraging its foundation in quality and reliable supply chains to deliver lightweight, energy-efficient automotive solutions. Identifying India, ASEAN, and the Global South as key growth territories, the company is deploying AI-driven automation and smart manufacturing to boost productivity and cost competitiveness, supported by continuous workforce development under TPS, Genchi Genbutsu, and the “By All, For All” operational philosophy.
In Thailand, operations remain central to JTEKT’s regional supply chain resilience. Mr. Masatsugu Iwaki, President of JTEKT (Thailand) Co., Ltd., noted that the company has successfully navigated disruptions—including the COVID-19 pandemic and supply chain realignments—to sustain domestic delivery and global exports. Moving forward, JTEKT Thailand centers its operational model on productivity, cost reduction, and carbon reduction by scaling up digital manufacturing infrastructure alongside workforce reskilling.
On the environmental front, JTEKT aims to cut production-related CO₂ emissions by 60% by 2030 (compared to FY2013) and reach full manufacturing Carbon Neutrality by 2035. By FY2024, emissions were reduced by 43.6% at the corporate level and 36.3% across the group, backed by the establishment of the Carbon Neutrality Park (CN Park) to foster supply chain decarbonization. These sustainability achievements earned JTEKT Thailand the Thailand Energy Award in 2025 and 2026, as well as the ASEAN Energy Award in 2026, solidifying the long-term partnership between Japanese technological innovation and Thai industrial capability.
