DHL Express has expanded its logistics network with the launch of a new direct freighter flight connecting Shanghai and Bangkok. The dedicated route is tailored to meet surging trade demands between China and the rapidly growing Indochina economies, optimizing supply chain links across major manufacturing hubs, sourcing networks, and consumer markets spanning Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.

The newly established flight operates on a multi-hub routing covering ‘Shanghai–Bangkok–Bahrain–Brussels–Shanghai’ utilizing a DHL Boeing 767 freighter with a maximum payload capacity of up to 50 tons. Bangkok serves as the primary gateway to Indochina, while Bahrain and Brussels act as central hubs, allowing DHL Express to consolidate and distribute shipments originating from China and Southeast Asia to global destinations efficiently.

Southeast Asia is rapidly transforming into a global manufacturing and trade powerhouse, driven by strategic relocation of production bases to Thailand and the Indochina region. The Shanghai–Bangkok service is designed to give businesses faster access to essential raw materials, components, and finished goods, reinforcing cross-border supply chains and empowering Thai-made products on the global stage.

The service launch aligns with a notable surge in raw material sourcing from China by manufacturers in Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos as part of integrated multi-country supply chains. To support this growth, DHL Express recently expanded its Shenzhen Gateway at Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport in July, tripling its handling capacity to 900 tons per day to accommodate soaring cross-border and e-commerce trade.

Furthermore, the new direct route caters to robust trade flows between China, Southeast Asia, Europe, and the Middle East across electronics, industrial components, and consumer goods. Together with other network expansions, such as DHL Global Forwarding’s Transpacific service connecting Southeast Asia with the United States, DHL continues to build agile, resilient supply chains that seamlessly bridge regional businesses with global markets.
