The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), Ministry of Commerce, has successfully concluded the Thai SELECT Restaurant Capacity-Building and Networking Program. This strategic initiative integrates global Thai restaurant operators directly into Thailand’s manufacturing supply chain, aiming to boost the export of authentic Thai ingredients, elevate overseas restaurant standards, and drive export value through Soft Power.
Mr. Surinthorn Sunthornsanan, Deputy Director-General of the DITP, revealed that 15 participants from 6 regions worldwide engaged in various value-generating activities. A key highlight was the concrete business matching at THAIFEX – Anuga Asia 2026, allowing overseas operators to connect directly with Thai manufacturers to reduce costs and expand export value. Participants also gained cultural insights from culinary experts to preserve authentic Thai cuisine standards globally.

“Thai food is a powerful branding tool, a cultural identity, and a vital economic engine. The Thai SELECT certificate builds international confidence in Thai taste and quality. These restaurateurs act as ‘cultural ambassadors’ sharing the charm of Thai cuisine worldwide,” Mr. Surinthorn stated.
Participating entrepreneurs from prominent restaurants—including WOKXPRESS (Denmark), THAI SQUARE GROUP (UK), KRAPPOM (South Korea), IT’S THAI (China), TÓA 66 (India), and CHAO PHRAYA THAI FINE CUISINE (Indonesia)—highly praised the program. Direct connections with compliant suppliers have boosted their confidence for future expansions, while regional food tastings inspired new menus rooted in the core philosophy of maintaining “authentic, traditional Thai taste.”

As of May 2026, there are 1,419 certified Thai SELECT restaurants across 70 countries. The DITP remains committed to utilizing this program as a vital catalyst to scale businesses, maintain global culinary standards, and strengthen Thailand’s world-class food export sector.
